Walnut ! I didnít know they made them in walnut. Iíve never seen one in walnut before. Did you know they made them in walnut, I didnít know they made them in walnut ?
Weíve handled quite a number of these in recent years, all in that slightly rusticy oak. Nice to happen across one in a more formal, mood setting dark walnut. Gives it an air of mature sophistication, especially in itís totally stayed, original condition. Stands alone. Must also mean itís rare. Real rare.
In original condition throughout, including the upholstery and original sprung cushion (good reference if nothing else). Fair to say, the chair still has a sense of the owner sat in place. Structurally fine with the expected wear. Upholstery very tired, back cushion stuffing perishing.
Woodworm holes found in two very small clusters (treated in part). Back of chair is heavily faded and the finish perished and dry.One long hairline slither chip/split to a very front corner of a leg. May have been glued. No movement and of no concern.
High on the list of both dealers and collectors alike. Restoration project, in full or in part. A good find and look to run, work or live with.
