To most, the eighties still evoke memories of New Romanticism, silly hair cuts and frumpy ankle boots. Whilst superficially fronting the period, a strong, rich vein of design was flowing to other more refined walks of life. Magistretti, Cassina, Italian. Enough to stop any admirer of 20th Century design.
This chair, typical, distinctive Vico Magistretti, due particularly to his love of the novelty, adjustable head rest. On this occasion, taken to more of an extreme, to see the chair metamorphically, unravel from both ends, to create something more along the lines of a chaise.
Originally designed back in 1983, the " Veranda Chair " is no longer in production. This, a good early example, in good original condition.
